Hello all! As promised, here’s a bit of a sneak peek at the book which is simply titled “Charlie’s Story”. The book is about 14cm x 22 cm and 65 pages long. The front cover features the same photo as the blog header. It’s a very handsome portrait of Charlie taken when he was in his mid-twenties. Charlie and Margaret exchanged photos of themselves before they got married, and this is the photo that Margaret received from Charlie. (Cue all the heart-eye emojis!)
On the back cover is the historic map of Scotland that was shown in this post and in the Appendices in the top menu bar.
We’ve included several scans of documents, some of which you’ve seen here on the blog. Also, there are more than 35 photos included in its pages. Truth be told, it was the curating and scanning of the photos which have been most of the work since the writing was finished. And all of that work was done by Margaret and family other than me, so kudos to them. The photos add so much to the telling of the story.
Well, without further ado, here’s a look at some of my favourite pages!
What do you think? Not bad for a first-time, very collaborative effort, right?
